As a controversial 2016 draws to a close, we want to take the opportunity to alert our readers and subscribers to some of our plans for 2017, and to some of the unique opportunities those readers and subscribers may want to take advantage of in the new year.

It’s that time of year again — GC Summit time — and the editors of CEE Legal Matters are spending the next two days in Istanbul, hosting the largest gathering ever of Chief Legal Counsel in Central and Eastern Europe.

The conference space is booked and prepared. The hotel rooms are cleaned and ready. The microphones have been checked. The speakers are locked in and rehearsing the presentations. Menus have been selected. The sponsors are primed.  The welcome packs and badges have been finalized and sent off to the printer. The editors of CEE Legal Matters are nervous wrecks.

Chief Legal Officers know how demanding their jobs are. They have to create and manage effective teams, retain and instruct external counsel, advise their employers on strategic decisions, and implement new technology, all while putting out 20 fires a day.

Why thank you – we feel different! We’re proud to announce the launch of the brand new, improved, and expanded CEE Legal Matters website and portal.

Once again, and consistent as always with its mission to inform and serve in-house counsel across Central and Eastern Europe, CEE Legal Matters has launched the 2016 version of its highly regarded CEE Corporate Counsel Survey, providing an opportunity for General Counsel and Heads of Legal across CEE to share their preferences, key strategies, and best practices with one another.

General Counsel have stressful jobs. They are expected to be managers, advisors, administrators, supervisors, consultants, and HR experts, among other things — all while trying to find the time to do the legal work that is theoretically their primary responsibility.

The Dog Days of Summer, as the Greeks called this time of year, associating the extremely hot weather with Sirius — the brightest star in the constellation Canis Major (Large Dog), and the brightest star in the night sky. The Romans went so far as to sacrifice a red dog in April to appease the rage of Sirius, out of a belief that the star was the cause of the hot, sultry weather.

Today is the last day for General Counsel to have their voices heard in the CEE Legal Matters 2014 Corporate Counsel Best Practices Handbook.

The June 2014 issue of the CEE Legal Matters magazine is out now, and available for subscribers around the world both in print and electronic versions.

CEE Legal Matters is excited to attend the first in its series of Asset Yield panel discussions, hosted by Richards Kibbe & Orbe in London this Thursday. In preparation for the event, we sat down with one of the guest panelists at the event, Pawel Halwa, the Managing Partner of the Schoenherr Warsaw office.

We are proud to announce the Advisory Board for our Central & Eastern Europe General Counsel Best Practices Handbook.

Subscribers to the CEE Legal Matters magazine get exclusive access for two months to the magazine's content -- and other premium articles and features -- on the CEE Legal Matters website.

The June 2014 issue of the CEE Legal Matters magazine will be published and sent out to subscribers next week. As always with the publication of a new issue, the electronic version of articles from the previous issue will be taken from behind the pay-wall and made freely accessible to subscribers and non-subscribers alike.
