Submissions for the 2019 CEE Deal of the Year Awards – the most prestigious peer-selected legal awards in Central and Eastern Europe – are being accepted now, with winners to be announced at the CEE Legal Matters Annual Deal of the Year Awards Ceremony on April 23, 2020, in London.

Explanation and Methodology

To avoid bias and encourage confidence in the awards, the editors and staff of CEE Legal Matters play no role in the evaluation of submissions or the selection of winners. Instead, submissions are evaluated by a two-tiered panel of prominent lawyers from across the region who do not themselves stand to benefit from the final results.

Submissions must be made on or before January 17, 2020.

Directions for those wishing to make submissions can be found under the "Submission Guidelines" below and the mandatory submission template can be found here

Those responses which satisfy the mandatory submission criteria will be automatically forwarded to our Shortlist Panels, consisting of senior partners at leading firms and/or highly experienced and respected General Counsel in each CEE jurisdiction who have agreed to carefully review the submissions and rank them for complexity, size, and market significance. Their votes will be tabulated, and the resulting shortlists for each market in which a minimum of three deals were submitted will be announced on February 17th.

The shortlists will be forwarded to the Final Selection Committee, consisting of CEELM Knowledge Partners and select other legal experts from across the region. They will review the finalists and return ballots – but they will not be allowed to vote on deals in their own markets, or in markets where deals their own firms worked on are on the shortlist), leading to the determination of the winners.

Those winners will be announced at the CEE Legal Matters Annual Banquet and DOTY Awards Ceremony scheduled, along with the 2020 Dealer’s Choice Law Firm Summit, for April 23, 2020 at the HAC in London
