Rymarz Zdort Maruta has advised Finnish energy group Fortum on the acquisition of Orange Energia for a total consideration of approximately PLN 120 million. BDP Legal advised Orange Polska as the seller.
The transaction remains contingent on regulatory approval.
Orange Energia is the retail electricity supplier arm of Orange Polska.
According to Rymarz Zdort, Fortum is the Nordic region’s leading energy provider, serving over two million customers and generating 98% of its power from renewable sources and nuclear. The transaction will expand Fortum’s presence in the Polish retail energy market by bringing on board one of the country’s largest independent suppliers.
Orange Energia serves around 130,000 households and small and medium-sized enterprises across Poland.
