Freshfields has advised Traton on the implementation of a new joint group R&D organization across its brands Scania, MAN, International, and Volkswagen Truck & Bus.

Traton is a commercial vehicle manufacturer and a subsidiary of Volkswagen.

According to Freshfields, the cross-border reorganization consolidates around 9,000 employees into a unified R&D structure designed to drive modular innovation under the Traton Modular System. The integrated setup aims to streamline development across brands and accelerate innovation in commercial vehicle technology.

The Freshfields team included Vienna-based Counsels Gernot Fritz and Lukas Pomaroli and Associate Julius Roeck, as well as further lawyers in Munich, Duesseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, and Berlin.
