On December 1, 2022, SMM Legal announced that the Aramco Overseas Company transactions made in relation to the PKN Orlen-Grupa Lotos merger (as reported by CEE Legal Matters on January 20, 2022) had closed.

On December 1, 2022, SMM Legal announced that MOL's acquisition of Lotos Paliwa (reported by CEE Legal Matters on February 2, 2022) had closed. Subsequently, Baker McKenzie announced that Orlen Unipetrol's acquisition of Hungarian petrol stations from MOL (reported by CEE Legal Matters on February 1, 2022) had closed as well.

White & Case has advised Eurowag subsidiary WAG Payment Solutions on its full acquisition of Grupa Inelo from Innova Capital, European Telematics Holding, and others. Rymarz Zdort advised the sellers.

While the deal looked almost impossible at first, with European Commission officials hawkish about its competition implications, PKN Orlen’s acquisition of Grupa Lotos eventually came to pass. For the two Polish energy leviathans the path towards unification was not an easy one, but that goal became a lot nearer following the EC’s 2020 approval.
