RKKW – Kwasnicki, Wrobel & Partners has successfully protected the intellectual property rights of the Historical Museum in Sanok by blocking the sale of almost ten thousand illegal digital reproductions of works by Zdzislaw Beksinski.
According to RKKW, the Historical Museum in Sanok has the copyright to Beksinski’s work. “The products were provided [as] digital reproductions of Beksinski's works without the required consent of the authorized entity, i.e. the Museum. Pursuant to the provisions of the law, the rights holders enjoy the exclusive right to authorize the reproduction of these works. The bids were removed immediately upon receipt of any notice of copyright infringement.”
Earlier this year, RKKW has helped the Historical Museum in Sanok object to the sale offer of a counterfeit painting of Zdzislaw Beksinski (as reported by CEE Legal Matters on April 21, 2021). You can read an in-depth take on that case in our Deal 5 interview with the museum’s director, Jaroslaw Serafin, here.
RKKW’s team included Partners Radoslaw Kwasnicki and Aneta Pankowska and Lawyer Lukasz Gil.
