JDP has advised Free Now, the owner and operator of a ride sharing app, on compliance matters related to the new set of regulations in Poland applicable to the ever-growing ride share market.

The regulations are part of the so-called "Lex Uber Act," which recently came into force, and which is designed to unify the passenger transport market. Going forward, drivers for companies operating in Poland such as Uber, Bolt, iTaxi, and Free Now will need to have taxi licenses, roof signs, meters, and card readers, and the companies which provide the apps will have to pay tax, not just the drivers themselves.

According to JDP, "a great deal of knowledge of the industry, internal processes as well as practical interpretation of the law, about which there is no practice yet, was required in order to provide [Free Now] with accurate advice and sufficient support."

The JDP team included Partner Marcin Chomiuk and Associate Adam Usiądek.
