On January 16, 2024, Filip & Company announced that the transfer of the Orange Money Romania retail business to Alpha Bank (reported by CEE Legal Matters on August 29, 2023) had closed.

Orange Money was launched in 2016 on the Romanian market as a digital alternative to traditional banking services.

"We are happy to announce the completion of the process of taking over the local operations of Orange Money by Alpha Bank Romania," Alpha Bank Group International General Manager Sergiu Oprescu commented. "Thus, we continue to combine the tradition, innovation, and flexibility that characterize us, adding the agility and skills of Orange Money to offer our customers a superior digital experience. Thank you to the Orange Money and Alpha Bank teams for the effort put in to achieve this goal."

As previously reported, RTPR advised Orange Money Romania while Filip & Company advised Alpha Bank.
