45 days. That’s how long it took Roman Kramarik, Partner at JSK in the Czech Republic who recently became the first-ever Czechoslovakian pilot to fly around the world, to complete his 36,863-kilometer mission. After crossing three oceans, surviving monsoon rains, facing the cold of Alaska and the warmth of the Far East, all behind the controls of his Cessna P210N Centurion airplane named the “Winged Lion,” Kramarik returned to his office at the Prague law firm, rightly proud – and more than a little exhausted.

Things are pretty calm on the legislative front in the Czech Republic at the moment, says JSK Partner Tomas Dolezil, and nothing big is expected for the next few months either. "But next year,” he says, "the new government needs to prepare a number of legislative proposals. For instance, the Ministry of Finance is working on a reform of the Czech Capital Market.” According to Dolezil, “a concept is being discussed and produced, and is now waiting for some political guidance or discretion, and on this basis we expected legislative changes to be proposed next year. Among others it is expected that the changes will affect the Private Equity/ Venture Capital sector.”

JSK has advised investment fund BHS Private Equity Fund on the acquisition of engineering company Boco Pardubice Machines from private individuals Jan Dostal, Petr Pilny, and Jan Dotzauer, with the latter staying on as a minority partner and co-investor. Havel & Partners advised the sellers in the deal.

JSK, working in cooperation with solo practitioner Pavel Suser, has advised the shareholders of James Cook Languages on the sale of 100% of the company to Vladimir Schmalz and his EDUA Group. Rowan Legal advised the EDUA Group on the acquisition.

The Czech JSK law firm, the Slovak Majernik & Mihalikova law firm, and Austria's Graf Patsch Taucher have advised ARBES Technologies, a member of the Expandia Group, on its cross-border acquisition of the Slovak software company FINAMIS. The sellers were advised by the Misik law firm.

JSK has advised Cemex on the sale of two Slovak subsidiaries, Kamenolomy CMX s.r.o. and Cemex Aggregates Slovakia s.r.o., to CEMMAC a.s. The buyer was represented by Vanko & Vankova. 

The JSK law firm has advised Czech engineering company Toshulin on its acquisition of TOS Kurim and CKD Blansko from ALTA a.s. Havel & Partners advised ALTA in the sale.

The Czech Republic's JSK law firm and Slovenia's Kavcic, Bracun & Partners have successfully provided legal advice to TCCM, s.r.o., in relation to its acquisition of 100% shares in Slovenia's Teleray. The Zavrsek Law Firm, in Slovenia, advised the sellers on the deal.

JSK has represented a fund managed by 3TS Capital Partners and BHS Private Equity Fund on a EUR 2 million investment and a EUR 2.5 million investment in the ZOOT online fashion store, respectively.

JSK has advised the Lama Energy Group on its acquisition of Live Telecom from sellers Pavel Stepanek, David Lukac, and Zdenek Nesveda. The sellers were represented by Delta Legal.

JSK has advised APS Holding a.s on its January 10 agreement with the Hellenic Bank Public Company Ltd for the management of real estate assets and for the servicing of the non-performing loans of the Bank. Antoniou McCollum & Co advised APS on Cyprus law matters. Clifford Chance advised the Hellenic Bank, with George Z. Georgiou & Associates advising it on employment law matters and Antis Triantafyllides and Sons on Cyprus Law matters.

On July 18, 2016, CEELM reported that JSK advised Ashok Leyland UEA on the ownership transfer of truck manufacturer Ashok Leyland Motors to the Czechoslovak Group.
