Gide Advises KGHM International Copper Mines Portfolio Sale

Gide, working with McCarthy Tetrault, has advised KGHM International on the sale of mining assets located in the Sudbury Basin in central Ontario, Canada, to the Canadian mining company Magna Mining.

KGHM International is a Canadian subsidiary of KGHM Polska Miedz and is engaged in the extraction of copper, nickel, platinum, palladium, gold, cobalt, and molybdenum.

Magna Mining is a Canadian exploration and mining company focusing its extraction projects on nickel, copper, and platinum group metals in the Sudbury region of Ontario, Canada.

According to Gide, "the transaction includes the sale of the active McCreedy West mine and three other currently inactive mines: Levack, Podolsky, and Kirkwood, along with a number of exploration projects: Falconbridge Footwall, Northwest Foy, North Range, and Rand. The total value of the transaction will be around CAD 30 million."

Earlier in 2024, Gide advised KGHM Polska Miedz on the PLN 4 billion bond program establishment and first issuance (as reported by CEE Legal Matters on June 28, 2024) and on a loan agreement with BGK (as reported by CEE Legal Matters on March 5, 2024). In 2022, Gide advised KGHM on its sale of a stake in Sierra Gorda to South32 (as reported by CEE Legal Matters on March 8, 2022).
