Rizoiu & Poenaru, working with Clifford Chance, has advised the Affidea Group on its acquisition of cancer care provider MedEuropa Romania. Biris Goran, working with Linklaters, advised the sellers.
Affidea is a provider of diagnostic imaging, outpatient, and treatment services in Europe. It has more than 300 centers in 15 countries.
MedEuropa Romania operates four medical centers in Constanta, Bucharest, Brasov, and Oradea, with one more set to open in Iasi. The company boasts expertise in advanced cancer care, including radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and broader oncology services.
MedEuropa's services portfolio will integrate "into Affidea's primary diagnostic and polyclinic portfolio in Romania. The acquisition adds radiotherapy services to Affidea’s capability in Romania, complementing existing radiotherapy services that Affidea provides across its European footprint," the Affidea Group announced.
Back in February, Rizoiu & Poenaru had also advised Affidea Romania on its acquisition of the local network of three Explora clinics in Suceava (as reported by CEE Legal Matters on February 21, 2024).
The Rizoiu & Poenaru team was led by Partner Lucian Poenaru and included Senior Associate Casandra Puscasu, Associates Ramona Rinu, Ionut Paun, Raluca Panduru, and Denisa Calin, and Junior Lawyer Rares Petrescu.
