Radu Taracila Padurari Retevoescu has advised Engie Romania on its acquisition of an 80-megawatt operational wind farm majority owned by the EnerCap Group, in Chirnogeni, Romania.

The transaction remains contingent on regulatory approval. The Engie Group specializes in low-carbon energy and related services. The company employs over 170,000 people around the world.

According to Engie, the wind farm's area is known for its favorable wind conditions. "The wind farm at Chirnogeni has a total installed capacity of 80 megawatts and the estimated annual net production is approximately 180 gigawatt-hours, equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of 90,000 households."

Engie Romania already owns and operates two other wind farms in the region, in Braila and Galati counties, which have a total installed capacity of 98 megawatts. "With this acquisition, the company will almost double its existing green energy production capacity and will contribute, together with the solar energy assets, to the acceleration of the energy transition in Romania," Engie announced.

"This investment strengthens the company's presence in the green energy sector and makes an essential contribution to achieving the assumed goals of having an installed renewable energy production capacity of 1,000 megawatts by 2030," Engie Romania Deputy General Director Cristian Buzan commented. "With each such initiative, we support our commitment towards a sustainable and efficient energy future."

The RTPR team was led by Partner Mihai Ristici and Counsel Vlad Stamatescu and included Partner Roxana Ionescu, Energy Consultant Bogdan Cordos, Senior Associates Cezara Urzica and Andreea Nedeloiu, Associate Serban Halmagean, and Junior Associates George Capota, Maria Luca, Radu Ciolacu, Luka Perovic and Andrei Nicolae.
