On the morning of October 2, 2017, representatives from many of the leading law firms in Bosnia – and two senior in-house counsel – gathered in the Sarajevo offices of Wolf Theiss Bosnia & Herzegovina to discuss the state of the legal market in their uniquely structured country.

AP Legal Acted has advised UniCredit Bank Srbija a.d. Beograd (a subsidiary of Elicio) on financing provided it and International Finance Corporation (IFC) for the development of the Alibunar wind-farm by Electrawinds-s d.o.o. Belgrade. IFC reportedly was advised on English law by Allen & Overy and on Serbian law by Karanovic & Nikolic.

Karanovic & Nikolic has advised Societe Generale Srbija on its acquisition of a part of Jubanka AD Beograd's credit portfolio, including housing and cash credits, credit cards, and credits for small and medium-sized enterprises. Zivkovic Samardzic advised Jubanka on the deal, which makes Societe Generale Srbija the third largest bank in Serbia in terms of credit volume.

The Slovenian National Assembly adopted the Class Action Law, which will implement an important institute to the Slovenian legal system, i.e. mechanism of class action.

Intellectual property infringement through the circulation and sale of counterfeit goods is still very much both a global and a local issue. As modern day counterfeiting is now acquiring more sophisticated forms involving a plethora of new and usually unsuspected goods (for example, pharmaceuticals) and with the intent of not only existing on the black markets but infiltrating into the legal market flows as well, we are faced with the need for a more aggressive approach requiring first and foremost improved legislation and subsequently more efficient enforcement activities.
