DLA Piper Advises Washington Dental Service on Acquisition of 50% Stake in Software Developer 8 West Consulting

DLA Piper has advised Seattle-based Washington Dental Service on its acquisition of a 50% stake in 8 West Consulting.

8 West Consulting is based in Cork, Ireland, and has an office in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. It is a software developer engaged in building, maintaining, and operating technology systems in the healthcare and retail sectors.

According to DLA Piper, through the purchase of this stake, WDS will work in collaboration with 8 West Consulting to develop and deploy new capabilities, competencies, and products for clients and partners across the healthcare industry.

"The acquisition of the stake represents an important milestone for WDS, accelerating its approach to leveraging technology to innovate and transform the oral healthcare landscape. WDS is expected to utilize this transaction to expand and build out its digital programs and services including improving benefits, providing self-service access to benefits information, claims payment, and real-time expert support for members," the firm reported.

The DLA Piper team was led by Dublin-based Legal Director Micheal Mulvey and included Bucharest-based Partners Paula Corban Pelin and Oana Dutu-Buzura, Counsels Monica Elena Preotescu and Florin Vasile Tineghe, Managing Associate Corina Badiceanu, Senior Associate Andrei Stoica, Associates Andrei Dragan, Ioana Anton, and Lorena Stanciu, and Junior Associate Miruna-Ioana Maracine, as well as further lawyers in Dublin and Seattle.
