Andreas Koehler has moved from Dentons to join CMS's Budapest office along with Senior Associate Gabor Toth.

With Dentons, Koehler was a Partner and the Head of the Budapest office’s corporate and commercial practice and legacy Co-Head of the firm’s global German practice. One of his main focuses for the past 15 years has been advising German, Austrian, Swiss, and other international clients on their activities in Hungary in various sectors. Prior to Dentons, Koehler worked for Noerr as an Associate in Budapest and Munich offices between 2000 and 2005 and as a Salaried Partner in Hungary between 2006 and 2008.

CEE Managing Director, Dora Petranyi commented: "German, Austrian and Swiss companies are key investors in the region and Andreas’ experience is a perfect fit with our strategy to expand our offering for these clients on a cross-border basis. Andreas and Gabor both have outstanding reputations in the market and having them on board will further deepen CMS’ leading position in the region."

Koehler added: "I am excited to be joining CMS, alongside my colleague Gabor. The region continues to be very active, and CMS’ strong presence and experience in the market will provide fantastic opportunities for us to further develop the German practice."

Last year, Koehler led the Dentons team advising the Wallis Group on its acquisition from the insolvency administrator of Praktiker of its Hungarian properties (reported on by CEE Legal Matters on January 25, 2016).

This is the second recent Partner departure from Dentons' Budapest office, following Csak Ildiko's (reported by CEE Legal Matters on March 9, 2017).

Editorial Note: This article has been corrected to state that Koehler is the second Partner to move on from Dentons in recent months, and not the third.
