Baker McKenzie Advises Georg Fischer on Acquisition of VAG Group from Aurelius

Baker McKenzie has advised Georg Fischer on its acquisition of the VAG Group from Aurelius for approximately CHF 200 million. Latham & Watkins reportedly advised Aurelius.

The transaction remains contingent on regulatory approval.

Georg Fischer, founded in 1802 and headquartered in Schaffhausen, Switzerland, operates 184 companies in 46 countries and generated CHF 4.8 billion in sales in 2024. 

Aurelius Group is an investor with offices in Amsterdam, London, Luxembourg, Malta, Milan, Munich, New York, and Stockholm.

VAG is a manufacturer of water-utility valves and complementary flow-control products, employing around 1,000 people across Europe, the Americas, Asia, and Africa.

According to Baker McKenzie, the acquisition of VAG will strengthen Georg Fischer’s position as a leader in flow solutions for buildings, industry and infrastructure. 

The Baker McKenzie team was led by Germany-based Partner Jakub Lorys and included Czech Republic-based Partner Tomas Skoumal, Senior Associates Tereza Stefunkova, Vlastimil Krejsa, Marek Disman, and Dusan Hlavata, and Associates Michal Malkovsky and Stepan Hron as well as further lawyers in Germany, Switzerland, the UK, the US, China, South Africa, and Brazil.
