PeliFilip has successfully represented Romania's Financial Supervisory Authority in a dispute initiated by the former Chairman of the Insurance Supervisory Commission, Mr. Tudor Daniel George.
After a six-month mandate at the head of the CIS, George had demanded that the ASF be ordered to pay approximately RON 3.3 million in "cease-of-service compensation" to the CIS Council provided for by an internal CSA regulation.
The Bucharest Court of Appeal dismissed Tudor's claim as unfounded, in a decision that remains subject to appeal.
The PeliFilip team consisted of Partner Catalin Alexandru, Senior Associate Alexandru Gosa, and Associate Cristina Tudoran. "We are glad that the Bucharest Court of Appeal's decision is favorable to the Financial Supervisory Authority and we want to thank our client for this because it has given us the confidence to represent it in a high-stakes dispute," said Gosa in a statement released by the firm. "It was a difficult dossier, but with my colleagues we managed to identify the best trial strategy and achieve one of the most important gains of this year's PeliFilip litigation team."
