SPCG is reporting having obtained a successful result for client Tesco Polska in the Court of Appeal in Krakow in a dispute with a contractor concerning the legal nature of guarantee deposits securing their due performance.
DZP has advised Wielton SA, the largest trailer and semi-trailer manufacturer in Poland and one of the three largest in Europe, on its acquisition of 100% of shares in the German Langendorf GmbH, which manufactures trailers, semi-trailers, and special vehicles for transporting glass and other challenging materials. The Langendorf Group was represented by Germany's WMS Treuhand law firm, and Taylor Wessing advised NWR Bank on the deal.
The 2017 CEE Legal Matters General Summit took place at the Intercontinental Hotel in Warsaw on June 1-2, 2017, once again bringing together well over a hundred General Counsel and Heads of Legal from across Central and Eastern Europe for two full days (and one entertaining evening) of seminars, panel discussions, best practices review, and networking. A new European law firm alliance with a substantial CEE presence has appeared on the legal scene. The new Act Legal alliance (branded in lower-case, as "act legal") consists of founding members AC Tischendorf (in Germany), BSWW (in Poland), MPH (Slovakia), Randa Havel Legal (Czech Republic), Vivien & Associes (France), and WMWP (Austria).
CMS has announced that Konrad Werner has been promoted to Counsel and Head of Real Estate Finance, Poland, and Agnieszka Ziolek has been promoted to Counsel and Head of Restructuring, Poland, in the firm's Warsaw office.
Despite fighting his way through a spring cold, Peter Daszkowski, Co-Managing Partner of Wolf Theiss in Poland, is sanguine about the state of affairs in Poland. "With regard to Warsaw it’s business as usual,” he says.
