Musat & Asociatii has advised Spectrum Brands Unit, a USD 5 billion consumer products company, in connection with the USD 2 billion sale of its global battery and portable lightning business to Energizer Holding Inc. The transaction, which is expected to close before the end of the year, is subject to regulatory approval.
Spectrum Brands Unit is an American consumer products company that generated a revenue of USD 866 million in 2017 and earnings before interest tax, depreciation and amortization of USD169 million. This transaction will allow the company to focus on its remaining businesses: hardware, auto care, and pet and gardening products.
Energizer Holding Inc. is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of primary batteries and portable lighting products. By this transaction, Energizer will expand its international business, consolidating its position in EMEA and Latin America.
Teaming up with Baker McKenzie as international counsel, Musat & Associatii provided Romanian law advice to Spectrum Brands Unit.
