Arbitration expert Sofia Cozac has left Zamfirescu Racoti Vasile & Partners to join Stratulat Albulescu as Head of the firm's Arbitration Group.

Cozac specializes in construction arbitration and ICSID arbitration, particularly ICC and VIAC arbitration proceedings. According to Stratulat Albulescu, "she regularly advises clients on matters related to construction disputes, including FIDIC contracts, post-privatization related disputes and administrative contentious claims." According to the firm, "additionally, she acts as arbitrator in arbitration cases before the Court of International Commercial Arbitration attached to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania, being also the President of the Dolj Court of Arbitration."

Cozac holds an LL.M. from Queen Mary University of London. Before joining Stratulat Albulescu, she spent over four years with Wolf Theiss, over four years with Schoenherr, almost five years with Leaua Damcali Deaconu Paunescu, and nine months with Zamfirescu Racoti Vasile & Partners.

"I’m excited to join such a dynamic and complex team at Stratulat Albulescu and look forward to having the opportunity to work, alongside my other colleagues in the Disputes Group, to enlarge the practice further and create a hub for reliable and client-oriented dispute resolution advice and guidance,” said Cozac. “As a professional in this field, I see more and more players opt for arbitration, as an alternative to the traditional courts of law, and I am determined to help SAA ride this wave and also incentivize its clients’ choice for this type of dispute resolution. At the same time, my role will entail a business development angle, which is an area SAA has pioneered over time and can educate on in great detail."

"Sofia's appointment is an important development for our larger Dispute Resolution group as it will add further depth to an area we’ve been wanting to expand for a while in the context of increased client demand,” commented Stratulat Albulescu Managing Partner Silviu Stratulat.
