Former Popovici Nitu Stoica & Associatii Partner Cristian Popescu has left that firm to become a Partner at Dentons in Bucharest.

Popescu has more than 15 years of legal experience in corporate, commercial, and agriculture projects, with a special focus on land acquisition, development, and financing. According to Dentons, “he has extensive experience in intellectual property and copyright, assisting clients in a broad range of issues related to the software copyrights, registration protection and use of trademarks, patents and domain names.”

Popescu has an LL.B. from the University of West Timisoara and an LL.M. from the University of Bucharest. Before joining Dentons, he spent a year and a half with Babiuc, Sulica & Associatii and 14 and a half years with PNSA.

“Building our M&A practice is among the top priorities of what we call ‘Dentons Romania 2.0’, our strategy to be a top firm in Romania and attract leading talent to meet growing client demand,” said Romania Managing Partner Perry Zizzi. “Cristian’s arrival is a milestone in that strategy. Last year, we grew our Banking and Finance practice with a highly skilled team in real estate finance, acquisition finance, project finance, and trade finance, led by two English-law qualified partners. We look forward to attracting top talent to further expand key practice areas such as M&A, Tax, Dispute Resolution, and others in 2021.”
