KPMG Legal Romania has hired Vlad Peligrad and Catalin Oroviceanu as Coordinating Partners.

Peligrad joins from Clifford Chance where he was a Counsel and Head of Arbitration. Prior to joining Clifford Chance, he was a Senior Associate with Salans (now Dentons) between 2005 and 2007. Earlier experience included working for PwC and for Dumitrescu si Lina. Last year, Peligrad coordinated the Clifford Chance team advising Rockwool Romania during the negotiations of a construction contract with CON-A Sibiu for the Danish group's first factory in Romania as reported by CEE Legal Matters on July 30, 2018.

Oroviceanu was the Head of Legal of Abris Capital Partners, where he'd been since 2015. He started his legal career with the PwC-affiliated firm in Romania, David & Baias, in 2001. In 2007, he joined Biris Goran, where he worked until 2010. He worked with Peligrad at Clifford Chance between 2010 and 2014, after which he rejoined David & Baias, staying there a short time before moving in-house.

Following the hires, KPMG Legal Romania’s leadership team has five partners, including Laura Toncescu and Coordinating Partners Nicoleta Mihai and Sebastian Olteanu.

Toncescu commented: "At KPMG Legal Romania, we place trust, professionalism, and legal excellence at the top of our priority list. In this context, I am very happy to welcome Vlad and Catalin to our team, and given my experience in working with them in the past, I am confident that they will contribute with their professional and personal qualities to provide our clients with a service which is unique in the market."

The news of KPMG's hires in Romania follows shortly after a similar announcement at KPMG in Estonia as reported by CEE Legal Matters on February 18, 2019.
