Former DWF Partner and Head of Banking in Warsaw Adam Stopyra has joined KPMG Law as a Partner.

Stopyra had been with his former team since 2018 when he joined K&L Gates as a Partner. In 2019, he became a DWF Partner when K&L Gates withdrew from CEE, with DWF taking over the Warsaw team (as reported by CEE Legal Matters on May 2, 2019). Before that, he worked for CMS, joining the firm in 2012 as an Associate and being appointed to Counsel in 2016. Earlier still, he was an Associate with White & Case between 2011 and 2012. His experience also includes working for Raiffeisen Bank Polska, first as a Credit Policy Junior Specialist, between 2006 and 2008, and then as a Structured Finance Specialist between 2008 and 2011.

"The expansion of the Banking and Finance practice is yet another wave of the new development strategy of KPMG Law," commented Partner and Co-Head of KPMG Law Pawel Bajno. "I am happy that Adam has joined us. He is an outstanding lawyer with many years of experience, which our clients will benefit from."

"The financial sector faces constant regulatory challenges in an ever-changing legal environment," added Stopyra. "Our goal is to make KPMG Law a recognized law firm that can effectively compete with other business law firms in the most complex and prestigious projects, as well as to make it a great place for professional development for young legal talents. I am very happy that my team and I will be able to support the growth of KPMG Law in Poland.”

The DWF departure follows Zbigniew Kozlowski's spin-off earlier this year (as reported by CEE Legal Matters on May 10, 2022).
