Kochanski & Partners has successfully represented Polish journalist Mikolaj Podolski in criminal proceedings initiated against him.

Podolski is a journalist with Poland's Onet.pl web portal.

According to Kochanski & Partners, “the District Court for Krakow-Srodmiescie ... discontinued criminal proceedings against [Podolski], who wrote about pedophilia in the Tricity area (Gdansk, Gdynia, and Sopot). Mikolaj Podolski detailed several pedophile crimes that were to be committed in the Tricity, among others by Krystian W. alias 'Krystek.' The journalist based his article on files made available to him with the court’s approval. Nevertheless, he was accused of allegedly revealing details of an investigation, and was threatened with a potential two-year prison sentence. In June, Zbigniew Ziobro, the Minister of Justice and the General Prosecutor, ordered the indictment to be withdrawn as unfounded.”

The Regional Court dismissed the case.

Onet.pl was founded in 1996 by the Optimus company and is now owned by the Krakow-based Grupa Onet.pl S.A. — which itself is majority owned by Ringier Axel Springer Media AG. Kochanski & Partners is the exclusive litigation law firm for Ringier Axel Springer Polska in Poland (as reported by CEE Legal Matters on September 4, 2019),

Kochanski & Partners’ team in this case was led by Partner Mateusz Ostrowski.
