Partner Ana Radnev has been appointed the Head of CMS's Romanian Banking & Finance practice, succeeding Simona Marin.

Radnev is both Romanian and English qualified. According to CMS, she "has been part of the CMS team since its establishment in Romania, joining the Bucharest office in 1999. Subsequently, she relocated to London, a period in which she became an expert in English law, focusing on Banking & Finance law and advancing to the position of partner. Her practice continued at an international level and, for more than 20 years, she has coordinated countless financing transactions in the whole Central-South-European zone. During this time, she continued to work on transactions in Romania, keeping her connections to clients and co-workers in other firms in the region." She moved from London to Prague, and divided her time between the Czech capital and Istanbul after CMS opened its office by the Bosphorus in 2013. In May of this year she returned to Bucharest.

Radnev discussed her background and practice with CEE Legal Matters as the Expat on the Market focus in the December 2018 issue of the CEE Legal Matters magazine.

“I am honored to coordinate the Banking & Finance team of CMS Romania and work closely with my old and new colleagues in the Bucharest team," Radnev declared. "We are one of the largest and most dynamic Banking & Finance teams in Romania, covering the entire range of financial and equity market products. Together we will continue to promote the development and consolidation of the banking law practice in Romania and contribute to the implementation of CMS’s strategy in the region. At the same time, we are an integral part of CMS’ global Banking & Finance practice, a proof in this respect being the diversity of the portfolio of clients and complex, large-scale transactions – many having multi-jurisdiction implications - which we coordinate from the Bucharest office.”

“Ana Radnev’s return to Bucharest is an important step in augmenting the position of CMS in Bucharest as a regional leader in Banking & Finance," said CMS Romania Managing Partner Gabriel Sidere. "Ana’s appointment, together with the lawyers recently hired in the Banking & Finance group strengthens the regional hub position of our Bucharest office and brings about critical mass to further support our clients in cross-border transactions. Ana brings a unique expertise in assisting clients in infrastructure, technology and life science/health, strengthening the capacity of our Bucharest office to support clients in strategic transactions, such as the representation of sponsors in led leveraged financing, recaps, non-recourse projects and infrastructure finance. We are delighted to have Ana in the Bucharest office".
