The past 15 months have been a whirlwind of canceled plans and upset expectations. Against this backdrop, good news about something predictable and reliable is always welcome. So let us throw some at you: The winners of the CEE Legal Matters 2020 Deals of the Year Awards will be announced on the CEE Legal Matters website in less than two weeks, on June 3, 2021.

Despite a lingering (but weakening!) global pandemic, nominees for this year’s DOTY awards – the most prestigious peer-awarded legal awards in Central and Eastern Europe – reflect a remarkable diversity of deals types, from traditional financings, to IPOs, to big-ticket M&As, and from real estate to energy to investments in major industrial commitments, with everything in-between.

Unsurprisingly, there’s a wide range of nominees in contention this year as well. A total of 134 different firms worked on deals shortlisted for the 2020 DOTYs, led by Schoenherr, which worked on 14 different shortlisted deals, and Allen & Overy, which worked on 12 shortlisted deals, each in 9 countries.

The final nominees for the 2020 CEE Deals of the Year were announced two months ago, and can be found here.

The actual awards will be handed out to winners at the highly-anticipated Deal of the Year Awards Banquet in London on September 16, 2021, at which point CEE Legal Matters will also announce the winners of the overall CEE Deal of the Year as well. The awards banquet will finish a day that begins with the third Dealer’s Choice conference – the largest gathering of professionals from CEE’s legal community in history, and the first-ever event of its kind to be held in the English capital.

More details about tickets to those joint events will be coming soon.
