4. What is the purpose of processing your data?
We collect information about you to fulfill your requests (e.g. if you register for a subscription to the CEE Legal Matters magazine or a ticket to an event on a CEELM website), to contact you directly, process your order, manage your accounts and email you about other products, services, and information we think may be of interest to you). We may also contact you directly to follow up on the service and user experience we provide. If CEE Legal Matters Kft. is ever sold to another company your contact information will be passed on to this new party.
We will take cautionary measures to ensure we do not collect any personal data from you we do not need in order to provide and oversee the above services to you.

As part of our work, we process and store personal information relating to clients, service providers, professional contacts, and event speakers, attendees, and sponsors, and we adhere to applicable data protection rules. We take our responsibilities under these rules seriously and ensure the personal information we obtain is held, used, transferred and processed in accordance with the applicable data privacy rules.
Although CEE Legal Matters relies on its legitimate interest as the legal basis for processing where this is not overridden by the interests and rights or freedoms of the data subjects concerned, it recognizes that this legitimate interest is not the only lawful ground for processing data. As such, where appropriate, CEE Legal Matters will sometimes process your data on an alternative legal basis – for example, based on a legal obligation (when reporting may be required to the Hungarian tax authorities, for instance) or when you give your explicit consent to us to do so.
6. What kind of personal data do we collect?
We collect information about you when you fill in a contact form, visit the CEELM website, register for subscriptions and tickets, sign up for our weekly newsletter, or email us directly. Website usage information is collected using cookies.
The information we collect about you may include your name, job title, email address, company name, address, phone number, IP address, location, sex, LinkedIn profile, and other information you may supply voluntarily.
7. Who receives your information?
CEE Legal Matters Kft. staff works closely together to provide a coordinated approach. Any transmission of data among CEELM staff is managed through agreed processes that comply with relevant data protection legislation.
Unless we have a legal obligation to do so, we will not disclose your data to individuals, organizations, or other entities outside of CEELM, other than those who are acting as agents and data processors working on our behalf.
For the purposes set out in section 4, we may need to pass your information to our third-party service providers, agents, subcontractors, or volunteers for the purposes of completing tasks and providing services to you on our behalf (for example to event sponsors for contacting you after the event). However, with all external entities with whom data is shared, we share only the data needed to perform the specific service and require a contract and/or confidentiality and non-disclosure agreement to be signed before any data transfer, requiring them to keep your information secure and not to use it for non-agreed-upon purposes.
When you are using our event registration pages, your payment is processed by a third-party payment processor specializing in the secure processing of credit/debit card transactions. We do not retain credit card information for future use.

Podio (Citrix Systems, Inc.): Based in the US, with CEE Legal Matters Kft.’s data stored within EU in data centers located in Dublin, Ireland. Software As A Service which provides a contact management platform.
Mailchimp: Based in the US, Mailchimp enables CEE Legal Matters Kft. to share news about current and upcoming events, featured interviews, relevant news, as well as provides us with data on opens and clicks from our newsletters.
Sponsors and Partners: Our event sponsors and partners receive information on the event attendees (names, job title, emails, and company name) who attend the specific event they are sponsors of.
We require all third parties to respect the security of your personal data and to treat it in accordance with the law.
8. How long will your information be held?
If CEELM provides any paid-for services to you, we are required under Hungarian tax law to keep your basic personal data (name, address, contact details) for a minimum of 8 years after which time it will be destroyed. The information we use for marketing purposes will be kept with us until you notify us that you no longer wish to receive this information.

10. Security of your information
We are committed to holding your data securely and treating it with sensitivity. All data is held securely and in accordance with the relevant data privacy laws and our internal policies. We do not sell to or trade your data with any other organizations.
Although most of the information we store and process stays within Hungary, some information may be transferred to countries outside of the European Economic Area (EEA). This may occur if, for example, one of our trusted partners’ servers are located in a country outside the EEA. Where these countries do not have similar data protection laws to the European Union, we will take steps to make sure they provide an adequate level of protection in accordance with EU data protection law.
