The Bucharest office of Schoenherr has announced the arrival of Georgiana Badescu from Voicu & Filipescu as a new Partner in charge of the office's competition practice. The partnership ranks in the office has also been expanded by the promotion of Eva Hegedus-Brown to Partner in the real estate practice.
Badescu joins Schoenherr from Voicu & Filipescu, where she spent the past 12 years. She specializes in competition law and mergers and acquisitions and is expected to reinforce the office's Competition team following Catalin Suliman's departure (reported on by CEE Legal Matters on December 14, 2016). Between December and Badescu joining the firm, it was Partner Christoph Haid who took over the competition practice from Suliman. According to the firm, he'll continue to oversee the competition team of the office, though he'll be focusing more on business development going forward.
"Bringing Georgiana on-board is a very good move from all points of view," said Schoenherr Bucharest Managing Partner Sebastian Gutiu. "We have accustomed our clients with a high standard in terms of competition advice, a standard that Georgiana will definitely be able to maintain going forward."
Hegedus-Brown, who specializes in Real Estate, is a member of the Bucharest and Vienna Bars, and she is fluent in German, English, Hungarian, and Romanian. "At the base of our activity there are practice areas in which we pride ourselves with strong and dynamic lawyers, and the real estate practice is a very good example in this respect,", said Gutiu. "Eva's promotion is yet another confirmation of the potential in which we continue to invest."
