The codification of the new Hungarian Civil Procedure Act has commenced in 2014, for the purpose of which several working committees have been set up. As a result of the preparatory works, the Hungarian Government accepted the bill on the new Civil Procedure Act in 2015, and following a professional debate, the Minister of Justice submitted it to the Parliament on 2 September 2016. 

Schoenherr is reporting that, on September 30, 2016, Michael Lagler was elected as the new Managing Partner at the firm, where he will take over from Christoph Lindinger, who has led the Central and Eastern European law firm for the past 16 years. Lagler's term will begin at the start of the firm’s next fiscal year, on February 1, 2017.

Schoenherr, working with the Swiss firm Bar & Karrer as lead counsel, is advising OVS S.p.A., a leading Italian clothing retailer, and Sempione Retail AG, in connection with Sempione Retail's cash tender offer for all publicly held bearer shares of Swiss company Charles Vogele Holding AG in Austria, Hungary, Slovenia, and Poland. The Swiss Homburger firm and investment bank Lazard advised Charles Vogele.

Financial law - Implementation of the “basic bank account” and simplifying the change of a payment account

As a result of the implementation of Directive 2014/92/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council on the comparability of fees related to payment accounts, changing payment account and access to payment accounts with basic features, several decrees have been issued by the Hungarian Government.

Peter Voros will move from Baker & McKenzie to Kinstellar, where he will join as an Equity Partner and the head of competition, litigation, and environmental law practices of the Budapest office.

Construction inspection fines have been amended significantly 

After three years, the regulations on the construction inspection fines had been conceptually amended again as of June and July 2016.

Oppenheim advised the Messer Group on the deal.
